Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
This policy explains what data MakeAndUpdate collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible — and to never sell or share what you give us.
Who we are
MakeAndUpdate ("we", "us") is a Pennsylvania-based web design, development, and AI integration studio operating https://makeandupdate.com. Inquiries can be sent to nicholas@makeandupdate.com.
What we collect
- Contact form submissions: name, email, company (optional), and message body. Stored server-side in
contact-log.csvand forwarded to our internal inbox. - Server access logs: IP address, user agent, request URL, and timestamps — retained for up to 30 days for security monitoring and abuse prevention.
- Project ratings: if you submit feedback via our rating form, we store the score and any optional comment.
- Project files & media: any files you upload to
cloud.makeandupdate.com, files or photos you send us by message, and photographs taken with your consent (for example, on-site photos for your project). - Cookies: we set first-party analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) and advertising cookies (the Meta/Facebook Pixel) to measure traffic and ad performance. Functional cookies may also be used by embedded third-party services (e.g., reCAPTCHA on the contact form, if enabled).
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate, anonymized traffic, such as which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from. We also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure our advertising and to reach people who have visited this site with relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. The Meta Pixel sets cookies and shares limited event data (such as page views) with Meta Platforms, Inc.; we do not send it your name, email, or message. You can opt out of interest-based advertising as described under “Your rights” below.
How we use it
Contact submissions are used solely to respond to your inquiry and follow up about a potential engagement. Submissions are retained for up to 24 months in case the conversation resumes, then archived or deleted. Only the founder and authorized collaborators on an active project have access.
Server logs are reviewed only when investigating an incident (e.g., suspected abuse, error spikes). They are never combined with submitted contact data for profiling.
Third parties
We rely on a small number of vetted service providers to operate this site:
- Hosting: NameCheap (web hosting and SSL).
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4 by Google LLC (aggregate, privacy-respecting traffic measurement). Google’s privacy policy applies.
- Advertising: Meta Pixel by Meta Platforms, Inc. (ad measurement and retargeting on Facebook and Instagram). Meta’s data policy applies.
- Email: the inbox that receives contact submissions is hosted by our domain email provider.
- Embedded content: client case-study screenshots and logos remain the property of the respective brands.
We never sell, rent, or trade the personal information you submit to us, such as your name, email, or message.
Your rights
You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing nicholas@makeandupdate.com. We respond to verified requests within 30 days. If you submitted a contact form by accident, just reply with "please delete" and we will remove the record.
If you are located in the EU/UK, you have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, and objection to processing. California residents have analogous rights under the CCPA.
Interest-based advertising. Because this site uses the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, some U.S. state privacy laws (such as California’s CCPA/CPRA) treat the resulting data as “shared” for targeted advertising. You can opt out through your Facebook ad preferences and the industry tools at optout.aboutads.info and youradchoices.com, or email us to opt out directly.
Children
MakeAndUpdate is compliant with COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) regulations. This site is intended for business inquiries and is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children, as we do not track age-related data of our clients.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised version at this URL. Material changes will be highlighted in the introduction for at least 30 days.
