Accessibility Statement.

Accessibility is part of how I build. A fast, well-structured website should work for everyone, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader or voice control, or set their browser to reduce motion or enlarge text. This statement covers the standard I aim for, what I tested on this site, where it still falls short, and how to tell me when something gets in your way.

I build this website, and the sites I deliver for clients, toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. Accessibility is ongoing work rather than a one-time checkbox, so I keep testing this site and fixing what the tests find.

In September 2026 I tested all 126 pages of this site in a real browser, at a desktop width (1280px) and a phone width (390px). The results:

• Every page has one main heading and one main content area, and every page with navigation above its content starts with a skip link that jumps straight to the content.
• Everything you can click can also be reached and used with the keyboard alone, and no page traps the keyboard.
• Every stop you reach with the Tab key shows a visible focus outline, and none is hidden behind the sticky header.
• Every image has a text alternative. Images that carry information describe it; decorative images have an empty one, so screen readers skip them.
• Every form field has a label.
• When your device is set to reduce motion, animations stop and the homepage slideshow does not advance on its own. The slideshow also has a pause button.
• Text and controls were checked for colour contrast. The known contrast gap is described below.

My brand colour, a warm persimmon (#E84E10), does not reach the 4.5:1 contrast that WCAG 2.1 AA asks of normal-size text. Measured in September 2026, persimmon text on the light backgrounds, and the light text on persimmon buttons, sit between 2.9:1 and 4.1:1. That affects small labels and the main call-to-action button on every page. At large sizes (24px, or 18.66px bold) persimmon passes, at 3.4:1 on the paper background. The same colour draws the keyboard focus outline, which falls to about 2.8:1 where it crosses the peach glow near the top of the screen, mostly on phones. This is a known gap, and I will update this statement when it is fixed.

At a 320px-wide screen (the width of a desktop window zoomed to 400%), 5 of the 126 pages still have an element wider than the screen, such as a navigation list, a button or a line of text, so part of it is cut off. I am fixing them.
