Web design in Chester County, PA.
I’m Nicholas Cabel. I run MakeAndUpdate, a one-person web design studio in West Chester, the Chester County seat, and I hand-code fast websites for small businesses across the county. I design it, write the code, and answer your emails myself, so there is no agency layer to get through. You see a first version within 24 hours, and most sites go live in 2–3 days.

Who it’s for
- Shops, restaurants, salons, and professional offices in West Chester, Downingtown, Phoenixville, Malvern, and the towns between them.
- Contractors, landscapers, and other service-area businesses that work in several towns and need the site to say which ones.
- Owners whose site is slow on a phone, painful to edit, or missing when someone searches for their trade plus a Chester County town.
Tailored to you
Every project is scoped and priced to you. I send a fixed quote before any work begins, usually within one business day of your message.

Edit it without a developer
A simple dashboard for hours, prices, and posts. Change a seasonal schedule yourself instead of waiting on someone else.
One county, a lot of town centers
Chester County is made up of 73 municipalities: boroughs like West Chester, Phoenixville, Downingtown, and Kennett Square, one city (Coatesville), and a great many townships in between. That makes it a county of many town centers rather than one big one. A plumber in Downingtown and a florist in West Chester have different customers and different searches, even though both are in Chester County.
For a business that serves several towns, the site has to do two things. It has to say plainly which towns you cover, and it has to feel local to the person standing in each of them. I write the service area into the page itself, name the real towns, and make sure your Google Business Profile says the same thing.
The Chester County projects I can show you
Here are four of my clients in Chester County. In Berwyn, on Lancaster Avenue and near each other, are Maxima Hair at 555, a salon, and Neo Deli, a family-run deli and restaurant. A couple of miles north, in the Gateway Shopping Center in Tredyffrin Township (it has a Wayne address), are Kabab Cafe, a Persian restaurant and market, and Ann’s Tailoring.
Maxima’s old site was a bare template. I rebuilt it around one question, which is how quickly a new client can book: a service menu with starting prices, reviews and star ratings where people see them, a short story about the stylists, and a one-tap way to book from a phone. Neo Deli’s site puts the whole menu on one searchable page, adds a catering page with packages and a FAQ, and shows live open and closed hours, so a customer can tell at a glance whether the door is open.
My other live work is in Montgomery County: a landscaper in Plymouth Meeting and a party-rental company serving King of Prussia. All of it except Neo Deli is on the work page, and the client map shows where every one of them is.
What goes first, by kind of business
A visitor decides on the first phone screen, so that screen has to answer the question that kind of customer actually has. Here is what I put first for four kinds of Chester County business:
- ·Borough storefronts and restaurants: hours, directions, and one button to order or book. Someone standing on Gay Street in West Chester, deciding where to eat, should have the answer in seconds.
- ·Contractors and trades: the towns you cover, finished jobs with the town named, and a short quote request. A homeowner should know you work on their road before they scroll.
- ·Professional offices: what you do in plain language, who you are, and how to book, with your real people and real space in the photos instead of stock images.
- ·Farms, nurseries, and equestrian businesses: agriculture is still a big part of the county, and these businesses live on seasons. Hours and offerings you can change yourself in a minute, so the site never says you are open when you are not.
Towns I take projects from
The studio is in West Chester. I take projects from businesses across the county, including West Chester, Downingtown, Exton, Frazer, Malvern, Paoli, Phoenixville, and Berwyn, and from the boroughs and townships between them.
Farther east the same work runs along the Main Line, and toward the city there are pages for King of Prussia and Philadelphia. My page on web design in West Chester goes into the borough itself.
How working with me goes
I answer every message myself, usually within one business day, and I send a fixed quote before any work begins. If sitting down together would help, I can usually arrange it anywhere in the county. Plenty of clients would rather keep everything in email, and that works just as well.
I register the domain and run the hosting myself. Optional ongoing support is there if you want me to keep the site current after launch.

About Nicholas CabelCommon questions
Do you work with businesses all over Chester County, or only in West Chester?
All over the county. My studio is in West Chester, and I take projects from Downingtown, Exton, Malvern, Paoli, and Phoenixville to Berwyn and the towns between. The build happens online with progress sent by email, so it does not depend on where you are, and I can meet in person when that helps.
Can you show me work for a Chester County business?
Yes. In Chester County I can show you Maxima Hair at 555 and Neo Deli, both on Lancaster Avenue in Berwyn, and Kabab Cafe and Ann's Tailoring, both in the Gateway Shopping Center in Tredyffrin Township, which has a Wayne address. My other live projects are in Montgomery County. All but Neo Deli are linked from my work page, Neo Deli is at neodeli.com, and my client map at makeandupdate.com/work/map shows where each one is.
Do I need a separate page for every town I serve?
Usually not. Pages that only swap the town name are what Google's spam policies treat as doorway pages, and customers notice the copy-and-paste feel. For most businesses I build one strong page that names every town you cover, backed by real service or project pages. A second physical location is the exception and gets its own page.
How much does a website cost for a Chester County business?
It depends on the pages and features you need, so I do not publish a price list. I scope your project and send a fixed quote before any work begins, usually within one business day of your message, so there are no surprises later.
How long does it take to get a new site online?
You see a first working version within 24 hours. Most websites go live in 2–3 days once the content is ready. Larger builds take a few weeks, depending on scope and how quickly feedback comes back.
My current site gets some traffic. Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?
It should not. Before I change anything I note which pages already bring people in, keep their addresses where I can, and redirect anything that has to move. And if the site you have is good enough, I will say so rather than sell you a new one.
Who handles the domain and hosting?
I do. I register the domain and run the hosting, so renewals and keeping the site online are my job, not another item on your to-do list.
Do you help with Google Maps and reviews?
Each build covers on-page local SEO and Google Business Profile basics, so your site and your map listing agree on your name, services, and service area. Reviews have to come from real customers; no one can honestly produce them for you.
