What is CRO?

By Nicholas Cabel The 60-second version lives on Instagram

CRO stands for Conversion Rate Optimization. It is the work of turning the visitors you already have into customers, so the same traffic produces more sales. You paid for every click; CRO is how you stop wasting them.

In plain English

Imagine a store where seven of every ten people walk in and leave without buying. You could pay to drag more people through the door, or you could fix what is making them leave. CRO is the second, cheaper option.

Three things move it

01

Clarity

Make the next step obvious, so no one has to hunt for how to buy or book.

02

Trust

Proof, reviews, and clear security reassure people right at the moment of decision.

03

Less friction

Fewer form fields, a faster checkout, and fewer distractions mean fewer chances to give up.

Worth remembering

Around 70% of online shopping carts are abandoned.

CRO wins some of those back without paying for a single extra visitor. Even a small lift in conversion can outperform months of chasing more traffic.

What to do about it

Look at where people drop off, then remove the friction and add the proof right at that step. Not sure where you are leaking customers? Get a free website audit and I will point to the exact spots.
