What is E-E-A-T?

By Nicholas Cabel The 60-second version lives on Instagram

E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trust. It is Google's checklist for whether a page is worth trusting enough to rank. Get it wrong and Google quietly buries you, no matter how good your writing is.

In plain English

Think of it the way you would size up a stranger giving you advice. Have they actually done this? Do they really know it? Does anyone reputable vouch for them? Can you trust what they say? Google asks the same four questions about your pages.

What Google looks for

01

Show real experience

First-hand proof beats theory: real photos, real results, and details only someone who has done the work would know.

02

Get known and cited

Mentions and links from reputable sources build the authority that tells Google you are a real, respected name.

03

Stay accurate and transparent

A clear author, real contact details, and honest claims signal a page people can rely on.

Worth remembering

Trust overrides all: an untrustworthy page ranks low no matter how much expertise it shows.

For a local business, the fastest E-E-A-T wins are trust signals you already control: real reviews, a real address, an author behind the words, and a secure site.

What to do about it

Put your name, face, real reviews, and honest specifics on your key pages. If you want help turning that trust into rankings, that is the heart of my SEO work.
